The Picton rail Mechanical depot and operations office constructed on the Eastern side of the Picton Rail yards of the Port Marlborough precinct in Picton. The buildings were to replace the existing rail mechanical facility and operations office, located on the Western side of the yards while also meeting the functional changes of the Rolling stock operations in the region
